This pieces tactile physical presence is adapted to much harsher viewing environments than the typical white cube of gallery walls. Thus, it is activated, visceral and complex in shape and intones many biological releasing mechanisms (mental engram of tree branches, stingers, tentacles, eyes etc). The shape and texture acts upon primal parts of the brain while simultaneously conjuring man's tragic moments within history and those balleretic times we reach for quite a bit more a dance partner for the fight or flight animal brain and the more complex problem solving that our well developed memory and creative faculties allow us.
This piece, Power Nap, was created in the shows space in order to further develop its adaptive aesthetics within the exhibition environment.
