Tim Bavington

Las Vegan, Tim Bavington opens the Pandora’s Box that is consumer culture and empties the fan drenched structural elements of classic rock into the typically stoic field of stripe paintings. The fuzzy fluorescent striped result complicates art history by translating the completely pragmatic code of music and bringing the baggage of fan crazed desires of area rock in tow. Instead of a reduced and isolated aesthetic Bavington’s approach is a bit like a conceptual supercollider that creates strange new particles we always expected were there, but figured we would never see. It is art for purists that splits taste away from pretension and we are all the better for it.
